Den Haag Youth Club warmly welcomes children aged 4 and above, of all skill levels, to join our community. Our activities focus on developing foundational sports skills — Agility, Balance, Coordination, and Speed — the ABCs, essential for success in most sports. In our supportive environment, children learn Gaelic football and hurling skills ranging from beginner to advanced levels, enhance their overall fitness, build self-confidence, and forge lasting friendships, all while having fun in a safe and friendly setting.

Training sessions typically take place on Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM at Te Werve Rugby Club (Beresteinlaan 52, 2542 KC Den Haag). Newcomers are always encouraged and welcome!

Our children, the future

We were thrilled to see Den Haag GAA Youth featured in the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs report. Check out page 14 of the Global Ireland – Irish Diaspora Strategy 2020–2025 to spot familiar faces!

Training and Coaching

Our regular training sessions include dedicated coaching for our youngest group (ages 4–7), who engage through enjoyable activities and games designed to develop basic sporting skills.

Older children receive additional support from secondary school students participating in their ‘Service as Action’ school project. They help teach and refine advanced skills, contributing positively to our club community.

Training sessions are regularly held on Sundays in Escamp, with monthly pop-up sessions at Westbroekpark. Children aged 4–14 are invited to try Gaelic games—no prior experience is required.

Each training session caters to varying age groups and skill levels, alternating between Gaelic football and hurling. Sessions begin with a joint warm-up, followed by skill-specific training in smaller age-based groups (typically ages 4–6, 7–9, and 10–13). We conclude with friendly matches, using adapted rules to reinforce newly learned skills and ensure fair play for all participants.

Youth Officer and contact

Caitríona Rush has been our Youth Officer and Coach since 2018, managing registrations, events, and welcoming new members. She coaches every Sunday alongside her two Dutch/Irish kids, who love the game. Training is in English with Dutch translation available.
